Karim Magdy

Karim is an Egyptian lawyer currently residing in the United Arab Emirates. He specialises in Islamic banking and finance, real estate, litigation and dispute resolution.

Presently with Dubai Islamic Bank, Karim’s innovative ideas persuaded Shari’ah scholars to permit a modification of ijara agreements, reducing the bank’s exposure and making savings for all parties. He was also responsible for the introduction of a new Shari’ah-compliant real estate product after obtaining approvals for financing land in the non-freehold areas of Abu Dhabi through an arrangement admired by both Shari’ah and Legal departments. he has also worked on a new Shari’ah-compliant way to enable factoring in a sukuk structure.

Karim has authored a paper to be presented in Innovation Arabia on the issuance of a new fully-fledged Islamic payment card.

Karim was awarded a certificate of excellence from RTA for the above innovative ideas.
